Mong Yee

Mong Yee came into a relationship with Jesus at a young age. However, she went astray from her faith during her teenage years. When her Christian grandmother who was responsible in raising her up passed away, it shook her and she became aware of her spiritual plight. This proved to be a turning point. God had a blueprint for Mong Yee’s future even though she did not do well academically. Mong Yee went on to study Interior Design and became an assistant to the chief designer of Habitat Designs, an established UK contemporary home décor store, for 3 years. At the same time, she was recruited for the 7th acting class with SBC (now known as MediaCorp). Upon graduation, she married Jerry and decided not to pursue acting as her career even though she was offered a contract. In August 1988, Mong Yee ventured in faith to join Evangel Family Church as a full-time staff. From handling graphics design and stage backdrop projects, she progressively became involved in the music ministry as more of her talents and creativity were uncovered. She was ordained in 1999 and was a Community Pastor for 17 years before becoming an Associate Pastor of Evangel on 16 May 2010. Music and singing is her passion. Mong Yee also serves as a Worship Pastor, overseeing the creative ministries. She had the privilege to lead a crowd of 10,000 in praise and worship at the Good Friday Millennium Meetings with Dr Cho Yonggi. As a recording artiste and songwriter, she is part of the music group, Yellowren, which has released 2 Mando-Pop gospel albums, "For You" and "Destination". Mong Yee is married to Jerry, a fellow colleague, for 23 years, and they have a 19-year old son, Choo Shuin who is studying Intelligent Building Technology in Temasek Polytechnic and is actively involved in the Children's Ministry. Mong Yee looks forward to every family time. She also has a newfound love for people. She loves seeing people maximising their potential for God and having fellowship with new and old friends, getting to know how are they doing.
